An Irish Blessing

Origins of the Traditional Irish Blessing
Many of the old Irish blessings have been handed down through generations and used to teach children life’s important lessons in simple verse. The enchantingly poetic verses impart the ancient wisdom of the Celts and the famous Gaelic humor. The Blessing of the Road is so popular; it has even been captured in song and is heard in church choirs throughout Ireland. The origins of the classic blessing are now lost in time, but some folks believe it may have originated with St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, way back in the 5th century. Whatever its true origins, the traditional blessing remains a timeless tribute to the extraordinary beauty and charismatic spirit of Ireland and its people.
